Christmas in San Francisco

We will be spending the Christmas holiday in San Francisco from the 20th-25th of December. Does anyone know of any nondenominational Christmas eve services or events? Can anyone recommend a good Christian church in the city? We are staying in Chinatown. Thanks!

Search for "unitarian", my former co-worker said this is where he's going.

If you can get in, Glide Memorial Church has a service that is unlike any other anywhere in the country. Cecil Williams' sermons and the singing & dancing are absolutely inspirational. You need to get there early, though, because it's very popular.

Thanks for the info everyone! I thought about Glide Memorial, we've been really wanting to go there for a long time, but I understood that they have a dinner for the homeless on Christmas Eve. I guess I thought this was instead of a service. Do they have both?

Giulia, I just called Glide. They have 2 services on Christmas morning, 9 & 11. I asked how early you need to get there...he said "about a half hour" ... but I'd say be in your parking space by 8:20 or 10:20. Anyway, if I were going to a service on Christmas morning in SF, that's where I'd go!
The website has everything you need, including directions and where to park.

Also, check out Grace Cathedral- it's absolutely breathtaking. If you go to Glide, you may want to take a cab, as the neighborhood isn't the easiest (or safest) to park in.

I second the rec to check out Grace Cathedral.

I've never had a prob w/parking or safety in the Glide area.

Old St. Mary's Catholic Church is actually located at California St., at Grant Ave. It was the cathedral, the oldest one in California. A very beautiful and historical church but it is not nondenominational of course being a Catholic church.

Grace Cathedral is Episcopalian.
