Christmas in Panama City
I realize this is not the time to visit for a swim, but will there likely be days with sun at the end of December? Will the wind make walking on the beach miserable? Will many restaurants be closed?
|
Are you talking about PC, Florida? If so, the weather in December is very iffy but there's usually enough good days mixed in with bad. It all depends on the fronts moving through. Most restaurants in North Florida don't close anymore for winter so you should be fine there.

Thank you for your reply stjohnbound. And Yes, I was talking about Florida.

My brother lives up there, we live in Tampa, so we've Christmas-ed there before. It's chillier than Tampa but there's a general pattern to FL winter weather of fronts moving in from the north, creating a storm, followed by cooler weather which will turn warmer before another front moves in. It is windiest when the fronts come through. But all in all, it will be sunny before and after the fronts move through.
As for restaurants, there are some closed but scant few. |
Thanks Tandoori Girl... good info

I live in the area. I don't think you will be disappointed in the weather. It may be chilly in the mornings but by early afternoon it should be quite comfortable. I live in Tallahassee and there is rarely a winter day that I still need a sweater by afternoon. And it is always a little warmer on the coast than here.
Most of the restaurants stay open year round. Captain Anderson's does close but not until after New Years. |
Thanks Sunshine Sue. Your perspective is helpful!
