Christmas in New Orleans

Planning a trip to NOLA during Christmas Week - Dec. 20 - 17, 2019 and staying at the Quarter House in Frenchman Quarter. Will there be enough to do during this Holiday? Will restaurants be closed on Christmas Day? Please any suggestions would be helpful. We are young seniors who have visited NOLA during Halloween and in April. But should we re-think the Christmas Holidays?

When we were there over the Christmas holiday a few years ago, , many of the restaurants were closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Still, we did manage to find a couple good spots that were open, however. So, it didn't affect our total enjoyment of our visit, Except for those closures, there were no others during our stay, and we managed pretty much enjoy the activities we had planned, I hope you are as lucky as we were with the weather. Ours was absolutely perfect.

I'd love to attend a Reveillon dinner. Here are a couple of lists:

Make sure your accommodation is heated, though they may all be now. Some years ago I stayed in a very atmospheric place in the French Quarter during the Christmas holiday, there was a (very) cold snap, banana trees froze to the ground, and we thought we'd die of the cold. Doesn't hurt to check, just in case.

Following up my previous comment about restaurant availability on Christmas eve and Christmas day, I would suggest doing something that we didn't do....namely, plan ahead. Once you've picked out the restaurants you'd like to dine in during your stay, check with those at the top of your list to see if they are open on the holiday. Thus, you'll know whether you should make reservations on other days to make sure you get to dine at them.
