Christmas Festival of Lights in Natchitoches, LA

Has anyone been to the Christmas Festival of Lights in Natchitoches, LA . Any reviews on it or where to stay or eat. I've tried to search some dates for some hotels but haven't been lucky with vacancies. I'm hoping I'm not pushing too close to the date.

Any helpful information would be appreciated. Thanks!!

It's a fun time but you're possibly too late for 2004. Natchitoches isn't a large town and rooms fill quickly.

Where are you coming from? I have friends that have been there & everyone says it is excellent. Here is some info on it. www.christmasfestival.com/

You could stay in Shreveport & drive down. It's not more than an hour away. I have stayed at the Ramada & Holiday Inn in Natchitoches. The Microtel is supposed to be ok & looks new. There are several B&Bs in town. A favorite is Fleur de Lis. Have you gone to http://www.natchitoches.net/accommodations/index.php to check the places?

Lasyone's is a good place to eat. Meat pies are the local speciality. I didn't care for them but there are other choices. When we were up there in Sept we ate at Dominic's. The food was good & not pricey. It is in the historic section near the river.

Good luck! We're going too- our daughter is in college there.

The festival is a lot of fun, but it's also VERY crowded so be prepared for that. I think you may be too late to get hotel reservations for this year--they always book up fast. If you drive from Shreveport, you can find places to park in town--lots of people "sell" parking spots in their yards. Be prepared to leave your car there all day and evening and the traffic will be bad trying to get out of town. That said, it's still a lot of fun. The lights and fireworks are beautiful!

Thanks so much for all the helpful information. I knew this was a big thing but didn't have any clue exactly how BIG it was. I have searched the website itself and gone through all the hotel and tried on the internet but everything is booked.

I decided to give some hotels a call just to see and we were in luck the Days Inn still had a few rooms available.

We live in Carencro, Which is in the Lafayette area so not to far away.

I have heard about the meat pie place before and sorta figured that it would be crowded.

Thanks again for all your help!
