I'm assuming that you are coming from the UK as turkey etc isn't that traditional in the US as most people will have had turkey at Thanksgiving just a month earlier. Many choose to have something else for Christmas. I'm sure that many hotels will have a Christmas dinner so check the big hotel websites.

We'll also be in NYC for Christmas dinner-2 restaurants that are open and we were most interested in are Cibo (www.cibonyc.com) and Les Halles (www.leshalles.net). Perhaps one of those would meet your needs. We chose Les Halles because it is closer to where we are staying. Have a great trip.

I will disagree with eliztravel. Lots of Americans have turkey AGAIN!

There are LOADS of restaurants open for Xmas. One solution is go to opentable.com and see which they offer. You can make a reservation right there.

Here's a list of classic places

Without a location or something to narrow the field (ambiance?), I can't help much more.

We'll be in the city staying at the NY Palace for Christmas... however, we have made reservations at the Rock Center Cafe for dinner, as it is $48 per person (only 3 courses) as opposed to over $100 per person which most hotel restaurants charge... NO food or ambiance is worth that to me :-)
