Christmas Day in Las Vegas

I want to know if anyone has been here this time of year and what to expect.

Hi: We've been there at Christmas and it was cold and windy. I'd just suggest taking clothes that you can layer with and bring along a coat and umbrella, just in case. Have fun.

Thank you sunshine, was it crowded? Was it decorated for xmas theme?

sunshine Jul 9th, 2003 04:10 PM

Yes, it was crowded and decorated for XMAS. We enjoyed ourselves. We got married in Vegas almost 22 yrs. ago, so we go quite often.

Being a New Englander, I can think of few places less appealing than Las Vegas at Christmas.

What's the appeal?

clairelong Jul 9th, 2003 06:12 PM

The appeal is my husband loves Las Vegas, anytime he can get some free time he loves to go gamble and i in return love to go to the spas and shop...Christmas Eve is spent with my family and Christmas Day is always open so ....

Being a NYer, sometimes it is fun to go to the opposite of what we have every Christmas ..Like taking the kids to Disneyland~ except we win money sometimes instead of spending it on rides :)

Went to LV for 5 days at Christmas two years ago. We enjoyed it, the shops are crowded with last minute shoppers, and the Christmas decorations blended into the decor.

There is a different sense about it, I just didn't think it was Christmas day when I was walking around and everything seemed business as usual. We were staying at the Venetian and went down to the Canal Shops and they were all open Xmas day.

It was in the 60's during the day with the sun shining so it seemed warmer and as soon as the sun dropped it got very chilly. Played golf one day in long sleeves and I thought it was a perfect day.

Have a good time.

I was there this past X-mas and you definitely forget that it is a holiday. Decorations are up but they are fairly sparse and overwhelmed by the permanent decor. Also, expect plenty of like minded visitors...the place was packed everywhere we went.

My husband and I spent last Christmas at the Bellagio and LOVED IT! They had beautiful decorations up everywhere. The weather we had was cool and damp but being from northern NH it was nothing we couldn't handle and you are inside the casinos so much the weather isn't a huge issue. I guess if somebody is really crazy into Christmas this might not be the place to go but my husband and I really love going away and not having the stress of the holidays and having to be at Aunt so and so at a special time. I like doing something a little bit contrary to normal Christmas but still "a twist of Christmas". LOL.
