Christmas 2002 in Lake Tahoe

Considering Lake Tahoe for Christmas Vacation 2002. What would be the best hotel to stay at? We like to play live poker, eat good food and have a son that likes to ski. Thanks for any suggestions.

Harrah's has several very good restaurants, the usual casino card tables: poker, 21, pai gow. baccarrat. etc. It is also close to Heac=venly Valley ski area. arguably the best in Tahoe. I think the hotel has a shuttle to the base. Check their website.

Just got back from Tahoe. We stayed at Harvey's which is partners with Harrah's and located directly across the street from them. Both would be great choices. They are both located a few minute walk from the base of the gondola that takes you up to ski at Heavenly. However, there are also busses that come by every 10 minutes that will take you to the base of the gondola, because with your skis and boots and all that, even a few minutes walk can be rough. We enjoy great food as well, and went to 2 restaurants that I can highly recommend (along with several others that are just "good"). The highly recommended restaurants are: El Fiorno (or is it Cafe Fiorno?) for Italian. There are only 7 tables - very quaint and delicious. It's on Ski Run Blvd. Also, The Sage Room at Harveys was incredible! Hope this was helpful!

OOO is thinking of Cafe Fiore which is truly awesome only if you have not yet been to Evans. Both of these restaurants are small and very good. I enjoyed Cafe Fiore because of the smallness. Some people may not want to be in such a small place. In the summer you can eat on their deck.

I also vote for either Harvey's or Harrah's if you like to gamble. If you like to be in a more smoke free environment when you're not gambling try the Embassy Suites right next door to Harrah's on the CA side.
