Chocolates and hair cut in Chicago
Some time ago National Geografic Traveler Magazine mentioned Wild Rose chocolates made in Chicago. My husband and I will be in Chicago next week and I would like to know where we can buy them. Also where is the best place to cut my hair short? Please include address and phone. Thank you for your help.

Hi Mary,
What part of town will you be staying? I have a wonderful salon that I go to on Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. The owner cuts my hair and she's great at short cuts and color. Let me know if this location interests you.
Sarah

Best place to get hair cut--stick to the big salons in the Gold Coast--like Elizabeth Arden.

Don't think Wild Rose has a storefront, and not sure where to buy.

Thank you both.
Sarah, I will be staying on West Wacker but I do not how far is Lincoln Park. This is going to be my first trip to Chicago. I would like to have a name of your hair dresser and a phone # of your hair salon. I am surprised that there are no other places where a person can get a great hair cut in Downtown Chicago.

Mary,

You might want to try Mario Tricoci salon at 900 N. Michigan Avenue (near Bloomingdale's). Phone #312-915-0960. They might be a bit expensive but they do a great job. They have several locations in the city and suburbs.

Lia

PS Sorry I can't help you with the Wild Rose chocolates but I'd like to know where to buy them too!

Hi Mary,
There are lots of places to get your coif done in downtown Chicago. I work on Michigan Avenue, but prefer a low-key salon. The salon I go to is called Salon Kalena located at 2221 North Lincoln Avenue. The telephone number is 773/871-2887 and the owner's name is Kalena. It's not a far cab ride from where you are. Lincoln Park borders on the Gold Coast/downtown. If you end up going to see Kalena, please tell her I referred you and let me know how you like it.

If you have anymore questions, please let me know.
Sarah

I would not recommend going to one of the bigger salons, especially Mario Tricoci - I have never had a good service there. They treat you like cattle and chrage high prices for substandard service.
