China 2007

Hi, I'm looking to travel to China in 2007, what is the best time of year to travel weather wise, I'm not even sure at this stage what is their "tourist" season - if any. There are many organised tour companies available, does anyone have suggestions of a good overall company to travel with.

You should post this on the Asia forum . . . .

The Asia forum is great! You'll get lots of suggestions.
I started there for a trip to Japan and then drifted over here.
Both forums are most helpful.

You might want to look at www.chinafocustravel.com
We did their remarkable 13 day "loss leader" HCS tour in late Mar/early Apr. '05.
Cool in Beijing; Ji'nan; Tai'an. 60's and 70's in Suzhou; Shanghai.

I would recommend Chinapac based out of Vancouver. We went in March of 2005 and used their services because they have fantastic deals for airlines employees, but they have regular tours as well. I'm assuming you want to go to Beijing? I'm sure you're aware that they are getting ready for the Olympics and some of the sites were already covered in scaffolding when we were there. The weather in March wasn't bad...a little chilly but the crowds weren't too bad. If you're into shopping, I recommend the Pearl Market, although I think the government is cracking down on the markets with the Olympics coming up.
