Children friendly Restaurants in Seattle

Hi,

I with my wife and 18 month son will be visiting Seattle for the Labor day weekend. My wife and I being foodies, were looking at good places to dine while in Seattle. We are referring to Yelp.
Most of the restaurants we looked at are marked as 'not good for kids'. I was looking at places like Cafe Presse, Le Pichet, Matt's in the Market etc.
How is it? Don't they let you in if? i gues Matt's is a fine dining place and they wouldn't encourage kids. Can someone tell me about Cafe Presse and Le Pichet and kids?

Thanks

i wouldn't call matt's fine dining--it's great food but quite casual like many places here in seattle. the main reason none of those places are particularly kid-friendly, i would assume, is the tight spaces. all are small with tables very close together so it would be tough to fit a high chair.

any of the tom douglas restaurants would accommodate kids graciously, and you could always try calling the restaurants on your list to see what they suggest.

i would look at some sources besides yelp--chowhound for one, as well as the websites for the seattle times and the seattle weekly.

The only time we ate at Le Pichet there was two little kids bouncing off the wall.

Last Friday when we had dinner at Shuckers, in the Olympic Fairmont, we were seated next to a thirty-something couple and their 8-year-old son. They carried on laughing and playing as though they were in their backyard.

I don't think you'll have a problem finding a child friendly place to dine.

Enjoy, HTTY

I agree those places aren't kid friendly due to their space and set up, not anything about negative attitude or that they are too "fine dining" (they aren't).

The Tom Douglas restaurants can handle kids (Dahlia Lounge, Etta's Seafood, Lola's, or Palace Kitchen) and gives you a taste of one of Seattle's most prominent chefs.

The less foody more mid-range places like say Il Fornio or Cutter's Bayhouse are family friendly and set up for children.

Cafe Presse and Le Pichet are cute places but I'd hardly consider them 'must dos' for Seattle.

How about one of these?

Hello all,

thanks for all your inputs. We got back yesterday.
We went to Steel Head Diner..too good a place..loved it (thanks to Suze for your recommendation). We also went to Le Pichet and Salumi. No issues at any of these places. Loved the food too.

regards
