Child-Friendly Restaurant in Midtown that isn't a deli or diner?

We're doing a short day trip to NYC from Poughkeepsie to see the tree/Macy's/other x-mas windows on Sunday the 23rd. I need a rec for a restaurant for lunch/brunch (since it's Sunday) that is more like a bistro (cute, good atmosphere, good, reasonably priced food - which in NYC I know is relative - around $30/person) but is kid-friendly since we will have our 1-year-old son and my 8-year-old niece with us.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Beacon at 25 W. 56th St. has really good food, and is VERY family friendly - we've been going there with my son since he was 4 - they have a terrific brunch menu at $14.95 per person and a kids menu with not just standard kids food. It is a big, festive place - check out the website at www.beaconnyc.com and reserve through opentable.com

La Bonne Soupe at 48 W. 55th St. (between 5th & 6th Ave.)
http://www.labonnesoupe.com is our choice for a reasonable lunch. The soup special includes choice of soup with a salad, dessert, and glass of wine for $16.95. They also have a children's menu and brunch on Sundays.

Thanks carpetbagger - Le Bonne Soupe is one of my favorites too - my dad used to take me there when I was little every time we went to the city to see a show - it's a very fond memory I have with him - I got him the cookbook for Christmas one year - I forgot about it - I will consider it, although my niece isn't as adventurous about food as I was when I was her age!

I will check out Beacon too - thanks!

Just a heads up that La Bonne Soup gets very crowded this time of year and tables are pretty close together. I don't think they accept reservations either.

The Bryant Park Cafe is almost inbetween Macy's and Rockefeller Center. The kids will enjoy looking at the ice rink there (and there's a Xmas market) and the restaurant has a kids' menu and nice brunch options. Would be very festive and they will take reservations.
