Chicago Weather in April

I'm thinking about going to Chicago towards the end of April and was wondering what the weather is usually like there at that time of year? Is it rainy, windy etc? Thanks.

Chicago weather is very unpredictable. We have had a very mild winter this year so who knows what Spring will be like. The end of April could be very nice. But as you know April showers bring May flowers.

Yes, it is rainy. The old saying holds true here, "April showers bring May flowers". Bring your umbrella, unlike Seattle you will not be laughed at or look stupid with an umbrella. The temps can vary from the 40's to the 60's.

As a former Chicagoan, the best thing I can tell you is plan for temperatures somewhtere between 30 and 80 in late April, with sun, wind, rain or snow possible. Best thing is to check the weather forecast 5 days before. That's only about 20% accurate, but it's your best bet.

"D" (above) is absolutely on-target! There was a day in mid-april last year when the temp edged near 90, for instance, and walking across an asphalt parking lot near brought on heat stroke. But -- cold enough for a lined raincoat is equally possible.
