Chicago Weather

Will be downtown Chicago this upcoming weekend, Thurs-Sun. I've checked the weather and it looks like anywhere between 50'-70's, cooler on Sat. & Sun. Wanting to know the best way to dress. I will be out most thru the days shopping & sight seeing and going out for dinner. Plan to do alot of walking....
So will I need heavy jacket or light? Would love any suggestions.

I'd recommend layers--a long sleeve shirt, a light weight cardigan, a light jacket.

Definitely layers. A good choice is wool -- the thinner sweaters by SmartWool or Ibex. You're generally OK with something like that and then a cotton raincoat, etc. You'll be inside most of the time, so items that breathe are important. And you'll welcome the insulation afforded if it is nippy outside. They're saying 60s on Saturday. That can feel warm on a sunny, calm day. Or it can feel miserable on a damp day near the lake with a breeze.

We have had a cool wind in the evenings lately, so have a hat and scarf too(My wife last night had a sweater, light coat, scarf and hat on)

And if you are where most tourists are when they come to Chicago you will be downtown, Michigan Avenue, etc. The lake effect on the weather closer to the shore means that it is 5 to 10 degrees cooler in those areas this time of year than the forecast will say and likely windier and damper than it sounds.
