Chicago to Niagara Falls
Next month my family and I are planning a trip from Cairo to Chicago and from Chicago to Niagara Falls and back, we are planning to rent a car from O’hare airport and back, I am asking about the best places to stopover for sightseeing, during this journey, we have 6 days to accomplish this, then we will continue our vacation by flying to Seattle , from Chicago, for another week.
please advise. Thanks in advance. |
Some suggestions to investigate as you refine your itinerary:
Southwest Michigan has lovely beaches with dunes. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary Air Zoo Aerospace Science Center Frederik Meijer Gardens Grand Rapids Craft Beer scene Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village Polk Penguin Conservation Center University of Michigan campus/downtown Detroit Institute of Arts Motown Museum |
From Cairo, Egypt, not Cairo, Illinois, I think.\
If your rental car agreement allows driving into Canada, then I recommend staying on the Canada side of NF. Several family attractions three and great view of the falls. Baseball in Detroit and Cleveland. Rock &V Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. |
gohadoc—
If you do opt for Cleveland as a stopping halfway point, the Art Museum there is excellent and free; a stroll around the University Circle area (where the museum is found) is a pleasant activity. Little Italy is small but charming and close by the museum—I recommend saving room for a cannoli if you go. Lake View Cemetery was a lovely green oasis and remarkable for the mausoleum to James A Garfield. Cleveland is the option I know best in between, but if you don’t want more urban after Chicago, my research has indicated there are some good lakefront options in northern Ohio, but I’ll leave that to those with first-hand experience. Have fun; a stop between Chicago and NF is fun to contemplate even for me vicariously; truly, many choices! |
I would fly nonstop to New York or Toronto and drive to Niagara Falls from either, then drive on to Chicago. It’s a lot less total driving.
