jkurtiak, it's funny; here in Cleveland, we just enjoyed the touring production starring Gregory Harrison (remember, Gonzo Gates on the show Trapper John, MD?) as Billy Flynn.

Also, I remember watching Jasmine Guy(who was on "Different World" with Lisa Bonet and Marisa Tomei) and company do the fantastic "All That Jazz" number on the Today show a few years ago. She was probably the performer who succeeded Bebe Neuwirth.

Finally, I believe Billy Zane of "Titanic" fame also has recently played Flynn on Broadway.

We saw Chicago with Chita Rivera, Gwen Verdon and Jerry Orbach.
Then a couple of years ago we saw Chicago with Bebe Neuwirth and Ann Reinking and I cnnot remember the Billy Flynn actors name..James Naughton?
He was very good.
Then we saw the movie last year.
While I really enjoyed the movie, I was wishing the editing were not so quick, I wanted to watch the dance numbers straight through and I realized that I really like watching the play more.

Oh, the "SF twist" on the SF production of "Chicago"-- did it have to do with "Mary Sunshine", the reporter? I can tell you that the part is written that way and has been since the original Broadway production....

I thought the movie was done well, but the play was still *much* better.

IIRC, the number "Class" was deleted because it didn't test well with movie audiences.
