chicago skyline
does anyone know where's the best place to take photo of the chicago skyline?
|
one idea would be from Lk MI....take a boat tour that goes out on the lake.
It is a beautiful view...especially using the water as contrast.
|
I did it once from the area of the planetarium with great results.

I'm not sure if there's an unobstucted view from the end of Navy Pier. If so, that would be good also.

Or, if it's a daylight shot, if you can get on a boat out in the lake....
We got some great shots of the skyline last summer from the top of the ferris wheel at the Navy Pier.

I grew up near Chicago and spent many summers downtown on the weekends - withouth a doubt, it's from the Planetarium. You can get a full on view of the main skyline and then point your lens to capture the northern and southern end of the skyline.

Undoubtedly from the Shedd Aquarium or the Planetarium; tons of people on a nice day are out there with every camera imaginable. The city spreads out like a vast panorama from this place.

Thanks for all those reply.
More questions for the Adler Planetarium. Is it open for public all day? Is the area around there safe at nite?
|
We were just at the planetarium area last Saturday night, and watched the sunset. I feel it is a reasonably safe place...most of the people you see are bicyclists and joggers at sunset. We had to walk from the Aquarium to Soldier Field where we were parked at 7 pm...it seemed safe enough.

I haven't been there for several years, but I would assume it's open daily during "normal" hours. You can always call to find out. As in any big city, be aware of those around you but overall, yes, that is a very safe part of the city. Within walking distance is the aquarium, a museum, parks, Lake Shore Drive, etc.....the heart of the city where visitors congregate. Enjoy the beautiful city of Chicago!
