Chicago Saturday lunch advice

Will be traveling to Chicago for Shopping and dining. All the "classy" restaurants are closed for lunch on Sat. Will be spending the day shopping, but would like not to end up at a sports bar. Maybe a place that has good Champagne by the glass!!!!
Thanks

Interesting, I was not aware that Chicago's "classy restaurats" were closed for lunch of Saturday. Other than Trotters and Tru, which don't serve lunch *any* day of the week, I don't think that is a common occurrance, although some places close between 2 or 3 and 5 to set up for dinner.

As you'll most likely be shopping on Michigan Avenue, I can recommend Cielo in the Omni hotel, which has a nice view of the Avenue and is a lovely space with hand-painted murals. NoMi in the Park Hyatt is also lovely. Bistro 110 next door to Borders has consistently good bistro food.

Really, you won't have to resort to a sports bar. There will be plenty of options available.

HTH,
Racy

If you're at the Marshall Field's on State, the Walnut Room is nice.

Closed? Not at all.

We did the very same thing, except our lunch went on so long we had very little time to shop! We ate at Spiaggia, on the corner of Michigan Ave. & Oak St.

One of our party mentioned to the waitress that she recognized her from a previous visit, and the waitress ended up spoiling us rotten. She brought out an aperitif for us to try (on the house), and in addition to the desserts we ordered also brought out a wonderful cheese platter. Also comped, and truly better than the desserts we had ordered. Give it a try!
