Chicago restaurants

Going to Chicago for a weekend of shopping and Good Food. Would like Classy Bar and Dining, but not stuffy. Someone suggested The Chop House. Has anyone been their? Other thoughts? Cost of dining not an issue.
Oh, one more thing, we are 50ish!
Thank you

The Chicago Chop House was excellent the one time I went there (about a year ago). My only complaint -- the portions are too big! I think a 10 oz. filet was the smallest thing on the menu!

For Italian, I like Bice, on Ontario near St. Clair. For a casual burger, Boston Blackies on Grand is really good. For brunch, there's a West Egg on Fairbanks and Ontario/Ohio that makes a mean blueberry/cashew pancake...

There's a lot of good eatin' here! Check out one of the review sites (metromix.com or chireader.com) for more ideas.

HTH,
Racy

I like Hugo's Frog Bar. Its one of my favorites.

Hugo's serves from the Gibson's kitchen so this is a good alternative if you can't get into the usually packed Gibson's.

I went to the CHop house twice on my last trip to Chicago. A tremendous meal, great atmosphere and service. Another interesting place is Lawry's, about 2 blocks from the chop house. The presentation is very grand and uniqure.

Chester, CRACKER BARREL?! ELDERLY?! You must be a real piece of work! Julie, here's one of Chicago's Top 25 restaurants that's unique, delicious and a lot of fun:

http://www.emiliostapas.com/solynieve/restaurant.htm

It's really a wonderful experience; great wine list, unbelievable menu and definitely NOT stuffy. It's just a little walk off Michigan Avenue at 215 E. Ohio.

Julie, We were just back there in Aug and had a great time at the fairly new Weber Grill. Yes, it's owned by thee Weber people. We liked watching the chefs grill away! Good food/steaks. Nice bar area.

Sullivan's is also nice. Classy bar downstairs and cigar bar upstairs. Good grub too.

Jilly's on Rush St suprised us. Chicago-style bar, good food and if you go, ask for a window table overlooking Rush. St.

And last but not least, Riva's on The Navy Pier. Bar and restaurant with a great view.

Mrs Kal did a darn good job at shopping. We stayed at The Westin on
No. Mich so she didn't have far to walk toy drop off and start over!
Kal
