Chicago restaurants
 

We are coming to chicago in April for three nights to see the cubs. I have been a long suffering cubs fan from virginia for thirty five years and probably won't get back to wrigley. I was hoping I could get some restaurant suggestions. Nothing fancy. We are staying near wrigley but don't mind taking a cab a little ways out. Thanks for any suggestions.

Knowing what, if any, type of food/cuisine you prefer would be helpful IMO.

Here are some cheap places near Wrigley.

On Halsted: Nookies Tree (comfort food).
On Clark in Wrigleyville: Lucky's Sandwich Co. and Rockit Bar (both have been on food channel/travel channel -- lucky's for huge sandwiches, rockit for good burgers), Mia Francesa near Belmont Ave.
On Belmont Ave., near the red/brown/purple line stop -- Giordano's (stuffed pizza), Bittersweet (great pastry shop).

There are so many really casual restaurants on Clark, and nearby Broadway, for a slice of pizza or bar food. It is hard to choose. WIth 3 days in Chicago, I hope you have the time to venture south toward Lincoln Park, or further south to Gold Coast, or further to Mag Mile. A very easy ride on the red line train from Addison or on the 22 Clark Bus.

Uncommon Ground is at 3800 N. Clark. Good place for brunch/lunch/dinner. Not fancy but better than the fast, casual options that are chock a block on Clark Street.

There are loads of independent, restaurants--very casual to Michelin Bib winners. Thai, British, Chinese, Brazilian, Italian, etc. You'll definitely have too much to choose from. Of course, every place will be crowded before and after the games, so the more detail you can offer as to what sort of cuisine and what time of day will help get you some good reccos. Exiled Princess is a long time poster here who lives in Lakeview, I believe, so she will be able to provide good ideas, too.

Well, I used to live 5.5 blocks southeast of Wrigley for 20+ years, and get fairly regularly - although I'm a little behind this year because of the very poor weather.

Yes, there are a lot of choices and in three separate areas of the Lakeview neighborhood, too. Boystown, Wrigleyville, and the Southport Corridor.

"Near Wrigley" can take in a lot of ground. Where exactly? At what hotel. Best Western Hawthorne Place? Days Inn Chicago? Another hotel?
