Chicago people, advice on this condo location please

Hi

My friend and I will be in Chicago for a weekend trip celebrating our birthdays. The weekend will include the usual, shopping, restaurants, museums and sightseeing.

I found this condo on VRBO: http://www.vrbo.com/179390

I am interested in your thoughts on the location, which is listed as East Cedar St. between Rush and Lake Shore Drive.

Thanks!
Johanna

Fantastic location and looks like a fantastic apartment....easy walking distance to Michigan Avenue, Oak Street Beach, etc.

Thanks for your quick reply, sf.

I emailed the owner and am waiting for a response. Looks like a great apartment.

IT's a great location, public transportation isn't far at all ( buses and the "EL" subway), restaurants, Michigan Avenue, grocery store etc...all within walking distance.

My last job was just a few blocks away from there so I can definitely say.. go for it! It's a great location and right near the lack! You are very close to all the Michigan Ave shopping and the Chicago Ave L stop isn't far away. You will need to take the train to get into the loop. Tons of restaurants in the area as well!

I agree that the location is great. The nearest Red Line stop would be Clark/Division which is about 5 blocks. To reach the Mag Mile, Millennium Park, The Loop and Art Institute you could also walk east to Lake Shore Drive and catch the Number 151 bus southbound.

Just one quick correction, the rail system is officially referred to as the "L", not "el". http://tinyurl.com/c96zh7

You'll probably want to get visitor passes. They allow unlimited rides on all CTA trains and buses. A 1-day pass is $5.75 and a 3-day pass is $14. You can purchase them at either airport of a number of locations around the city. Check the CTA site for a list.
