Chicago parking near Mag Mile

We will be staying in the northern suburbs and want to travel into the city to go shopping one day on Michigan Ave. near the Water Tower, Nordstroms and SFA. We will probably park for 6 hours or so. Where is the cheapest parking available not too far from Michigan Ave.? Thanks!

The Metra or CTA trains would be cheaper and easier to deal with than parking in Chicago. You could walk, take a bus or hail a cab to Nordstrom's and then you could hit Saks and Water Tower.

If you really need to drive, though, we sometimes use a small parking lot just above the Potash Bros. grocery store at 875 N. State or the huge Bloomie's lot (900 N. Michigan).

I'm not sure where the cheapest lot is in that area, but I'd guess you're going to pay around $25. Some places do have deals. Try doing a google search using the words *Chicago parking.* That might help.

Good luck!

The Milleneum Park Garage I believe is one of the more reasonable and plentiful. You just walk across the river and voila...you are on Michigan Ave.

cfntmpn is right. $13 for 0-12 hours is a deal and not too far from Nordstroms. Be sure to note where you park. Here is a site that might help:

If you're all tuckered out at then end of your excusion, you can just hop on a bus heading south or take a cab.

Park in the 900 North Michigan garage, and plan to eat lunch or buy something in the building; ask if they'll validate the parking. The other, stress-free option is to take the Metra train (www.metrarail.com) and a cab bus or free trolley to North Michigan Avenue.
