Thanks Citylights - The quide we had thru Wendella last week stated that Oprah no longer lives in the three wavy sided condo on stilts. (sorry, don't know how else to discribe it) It's jst before you get to the locks going out to the lake. Is that correct?

To all: The CTA service cuts were not called off - only delayed temporarily. The $27 million is only to keep the service going until the end of the year (two more months).

So it will be interesting to see if all the 86(?) bus routes scheduled for elimination by January 2008 (that's the 39 originally scheduled for Nov. 4 and the others scheduled for January 2008) will be cut at one time, if the permanent funding doesn't come through.

Jen, you better believe this was and is a real problem. If you live in Chicago, I'd be making alternate commuting plans because the longer funding is delayed, the bigger the problem will get.

Like sticking your finger in the dam but never fixing a dam thing. :D

Note: I understand that CTA, Pace, etc. are not going to accept a loan - only outright funding.

Oh, trust me exiled, I know! I live here, and use the CTA often. My point was the same as yours, really... we get doomsday, then a temporary bail-out... robbing Peter to pay Paul, or whatever. Never a permanent solution, probably just exacerbating the problem. I'm sure the Olympics would be lovely, but it seems we should fix the CTA for those of us who actually live and work here first.
