Chicago Nightclub Question

I'm planning my sister's 30th bday in Chicago. Three of us girls are going to dinner at Japonais and then to see the Putnam Cty Spelling Bee. A little background: For my 30th in NY last year, we did a similar hip-restaurant then a show. Then we went dancing. I'm trying to do a similar format for my sis, because she liked it.

Here is the question about where to go dancing: I'm usually all about going to whatever the hip spot is, but for some reason, on my 30th, I just wanted to dance my heart out with my best friends to music with WORDS that I could sing along to, either Top 40 or 80's or something like that. I didn't care how cheesy that sounded, I just want to let loose and have FUN. We ended up walking the streets of NY for quite a while going from hip lounge, to techno/industrial dance spot, etc., before finding a cheesy 80's dance club--where we had a BLAST. I didn't care a snit that probably no one there was from Manhattan, and neither did my sister. She LOVED dancing to all the songs we grew up with together. So, I'm looking for a fun, packed nightclub that will play Top 40 or 80's or something with words we know and can sing along to. Industrial/techno is chic, but really, it's not as let-loose fun. Still, a modern/cool/hip atmosphere is obviously a positive (if we don't have to do cheesy and touristy, all the better). Does anyone know anything that will fit the bill? All 3 of us are or will be 30. Some places I've seen named are Excalibur and N9ne, but I don't even live in Chicago, so I have no idea.

Thanks!

I can't believe I am actually admitting that I have frequented this place for my birthday and other friends birthdays or that I am admitting going there in general, but...I know of a great place. I will warn you that it is super cheesy and tends to be touristy. It is called "The Hangge Uppe" at 14 W. Elm Street. Upstairs they play Top 40's and downstairs they play mostly 80's with some older tunes. I can guarantee that you will be able to sing along with all the songs playing downstairs. The place does get very crowded though, just to warn you. And later in the evening there will be line and probably a $5 cover charge. I don't know if you are from Chicago or know the area, but it is the Rush/Division area...there are tons of bars to bar-hop to if you want. I hope this helps. Let me know if this helps or if i can help with anything else.

So what does this thread have to do any more with travel than any of the other threads that got dumped on "other topics"? Move this one too.

Just to warn you, The Hangge Uppe draws a young 20s crowd. It's a blast, but make sure you are good and tipsy before attempting it!

Jorr - are you serious? She doesn't LIVE in Chicago. It's the exact same scenario as someone asking for a good Italian restaurant for their next trip to New York.
