Visited CCS once, not very impressive IMHO. Gibson's is at least 3 notches above, again IMHO.

Dukey, it should be pretty easy to understand "being rushed". What's difficult about that concept? Normally when one orders a salad and a steak one would expect to wait at least a few minutes for the salad, and would also expect to be finished with the salad before the steak comes -- or at least be half way through it. One shouldn't have to order the salad (to have it brought within a minute) and then as soon as you start eating the salad having the steak brought out as well. I know now -- you can't order two courses at the same time -- but at a good restaurant you shouldn't have to "know" that in advance nor should you have to tell the waiter when to bring your food.

But no, at a nice expensive restaurant when the meal is your evening's entertainment I don't think it's a good thing the food comes out right away at breakneck speed.

Take him to Portillo's Hot Dogs at 100 W Ontario St, at Clark St, on the NW corner. Order a dog "Chicago style", and an Italian beef sandwich "wet". Then move to your left and order a pint of beer on tap. What could be more Chicago than that? You can get a steak anywhere! He will talk about it for years!

ankhboy, thanks, but you do realize that this request is over a year old and we already did the steak -- a year ago?

Our plan of attack may be a small table in the bar for at least a drink or two... if it's too overbearing, we may just head for Lux. I appreciate those suggestions. I'll also add Portillo's to the list of stops while we're there. NP- sorry for jacking your thread!!!

Forget Portillos and head down south to Al's #1 Italian Beef. It's a little bit out of the way but well worth the taxi fare. It's on Taylor Street just behind the U of Illinois Chicago.
