Hotel rates are very sensitive to supply and demand. There are several large conventions in town between Sept 13 and 30 that will bring between 4,00 and 23,000 people into the city.

Temps will average in the low 70s during the day and around 50 at night.

September is beautiful in Chicago-enjoy the lakefront and our great city!

I agree Chicago usually has great weather in Chicago in September, and that is why along with the conventions that the hotels are getting more expensive. If you know you are going and haven't purchased a plane ticket I suggest you do that too as soon as possible...I fly there a lot from Dallas and sometimes it can just get insanely expensive especially if conventions are held.

After you book your hotel, make some dinner reservations. When conventions are in town, they're hard to get. When we lived there, we dreaded the big conventions as they would take over the city.

Two money saving tips for getting into Chicago and staying solo in Chicago. Ride Amtrak into the city and stay at the HI Hostel if you can't afford the crazy hotel prices.

This hostel is the second best big city hostel I have stayed at.
(The best is a mansion in Sacramento).
