Hi, <BR> <BR>I'm looking for a hotel in downtown Chicago for Sep 7,8,9. I've called several places, but everything seems to be booked due to a convention. <BR> <BR>I'd appreciate any advice. <BR> <BR>Thanks.

I, too, had trouble booking a room in Chicago for just a few days after your visit. I finally found a room through 1-800-USA-HOTELS.com. I used their website - got a good rate at a hotel in a good location.

One of Chicago's biggest conventions (I'natl Machine Tool), in its busy year-round schedule, takes place this week. Maybe you should try a B&B network, or aim for something outlying that can be accessed via public transportation (i.e, O'hare near the airport, River Rd. or Cumberland stops on the el (elevated line, about a 45-min train trip into the city). I found something in Niles/Skokie, but am still looking for something closer to downtown. Thanks for the info. I'll try the 800-usa-hotels..
