Chicago Hotel: Monaco, James, or Blackstone club floor
For a visit with my teenage daughter to see the art institute and shop. Prices are comparable, we're kind of suckers for club lounges but we also like nice hotels and a good location for walking. Thanks

I'd go with the James. Then you have J Bar which is pretty "sceney" if you like that. There is also the restaurant Custom House which is good.
Monaco and Blackstone are definitely nice, but the James is where you'll have your club lounge type of thing. You will also be close to shopping at the James as well as other hotels with nice lounges like Trump Tower. Have fun! |
Thanks, I think I misspoke. I meant club floors, hence my interest in the Blackstone, we don't really like lounges. I was actually concerned that the James may be a little too "sceney" for us. Is there a significant location difference between the three?

Oh my, I am sorry!! I have not been to the club levels at those hotels. Maybe you can find more info on tripadvisor.com.
The James is a scene in the evening but not over the top. It is a more mature crowd too which is nice. All 3 hotels are close to shopping on MI ave. Monaco and Blackstone are south of the River...this would mean a very quick bus ride to the heart of shopping. But you will be closer to Millennium Park and the Art Institute south of the river. All three are great locations and a quick bus ride to either the shopping or the Art Institute. I am probably not much help at this point since I am saying they are all great. It just depends if you want to be a little closer to the shopping or the Art Institute. Have a wonderful time! |
No, that's helpful, thanks.
