Chicago Dining -- this weekend

HI,
My husband and I are staying at the Conrad in Chicago and lookng for dining that is possibly within walking distance. Not opposed to a cab , but are there any recommended restaurants nearby?
Also, what is the wait like at Frontera Grill without a reservation?
Thanks!

Frontera Grill does not take reservations and the wait on a weekend can be upwards of two hours. If you line up outside the restaurant door at around 5 pm you can make it in the first seating. Otherwise, enjoy appetizers and their wonderful shaken Topolo Margaritas at their bar and wait patiently for their great food. Another thing--sometimes their adjoining restaurant Topolobampo (sp?) has tables available from no-show reservations so you can ask if you can be accomodated there on a last minute basis.

Thanks, Judy! Have you been to NaHa?

We went to Frontera for brunch when it first opened (10:30?) It was fantastic and not crowded at all.

Another restaurant within walking distance (at 749 N Clark) is Le Lan. Very pricey, but excellent. It's French-Asian. I would imagine you would need reservations.

Crofton on Wells is another excellent place (500 block of Wells). American. Pricey. Wonderful.

If you need less expensive options, let me know!

thanks again! Another option we are considering is Carnivale---anyone been there?

Yes, I've been to Carnivale and also to NaHa. LOVE them both. You seriously can't go wrong with any of the suggestions given so far. The atmosphere at Carnivale is really something to see. The Latin food is terrific. NaHa is very nice, white tablecloth and upscale. I've been there several times and never had a bad meal.
