Chicago Dining - Italian Village Help!
 

We will be going to the theatre in a few weeks and I'm looking to have dinner at the Italian Village. There are three restaurants there, The Village, La Cantina, & Vivere.
Can anyone help with any of these, I have not dined at any of them. I have checked out the menu's of all and they all sound great. Thanks for any help!

My fav of the three is The Village. It's upstairs and has a traditional Italian menu. The decor is like a street in a small Italian village. Some of the buildings are booth and there's miniature laundry and festival lights hanging overhead.

Vivere is the upscale dining room on the main floor with a modern decor and La Cantina is on the lower level with a smaller menu that focuses on steaks & seafood.

Not sure if their policy is the same, but The Village never used to take reservations for less than four (six?) people. However, I've never had to wait more than 15-20 minutes to be seated.

I had a dinner at La Cantina. It was merely OK.

Since the three are actually different dining rooms in the same restaurant you should have no trouble getting in. It would be smart to give them a call a.s.a.p. to ask about reservations. Many attendees at the Loop theaters will have the same destination in mind. You might also want to ask about after theater dining. We used to go after the Opera and find half of the stagehands in The Village. As TwoFatFeet noted; it's not the best Italian food in Chicago but it is convenient to your needs.

Vivere! Wonderful food, great atmosphere. . . .

My wife and I think Italian Village is vastly overrated. There are so many great Italian restaurants in Chicago, it'd be a shame to waste your time at a stuffy restaurant with run-of-the-mill fare.
