Chicago and The Producers
Mel Brooks' movie classic "The Producers" is being turned into a full-fledged musical. This week thru 2/25/01 only they are running premiere and preview shows in Chicago, before moving to New York City (Jed Clampett say: "Broadway that is: Great White Way; Theater stars!")

Question: Any alternative sources to purchase tickets for the Chicago showings? Ticketmaster doesn't have any available tickets. I'll search for phone number (and name-embarrassed!) of theater to see if available. I doubt 1/2-price ticket sources would have any for this limited engagement... anybody have any luck?

Weekend dates are of course preferred; however I'm willing to call in sick (cough, cough) in middle of week and travel from Indy.

Thanks!

It's at the Cadillac Palace Theater. You may be able to get tickets on ebay or other websites if not available directly from the theater. Ticketmaster only had single seats for "The Producers" when I went for my "Mamma Mia" tickets a couple of weeks ago.

I've never used one so I don't know the reliability, but you might try a ticket service, you can find a list at www.anywho.com if you type in ticket service. Mr. B's (www.ticketservice.com) is the name I've heard over the years but if they have tickets you will probably pay over face value. And I've never used a ticket broker so this isn't a personal recommendation.

I read a couple of weeks ago that the tickets were almost completely sold out so your chances of getting 1/2 price tickets are probably pretty close to zero.

You might try asking the box office at the Cadillac Palace whether they have any ticket returns or day of ticket sales for returns.

Good luck!

My mother, who lives in the Chicago area, tried to get tickets to "The Producers" yesterday, and was told all were sold out.

Thanks for all your input. I realize I can't get cheaper tickets -- wasn't really looking for them -- and the last set on ebay is asking 140.00 each on $60-$70 tickets. (That usually is what ticket agencies are asking.)

Guess I'll have to wait until it goes to Broadway, wins multiple Tony awards, and doesn't get back to the midwest until it forms a touring company with Rip Taylor and Judd Nelson. :)
