Texas Baseball Trip
We are headed to Houston and Dallas to see some baseball this summer. We were looking for some hotel recommendations that are conveniently located to the ballparks. In Houston especially, we would also like a hotel centrally located to the park area and other attractions as well. Any ideas are appreciated!

Unlike Dallas, Houston actually had the foresight and perspicacity to build its baseball stadium near to downtown so anything in the eastern part of downtown would be mildly close and anything in the southeastern corner of downtown would be actually close. Google maps will show you the numerous hotels, most of which are major chains (Marriott, Doubletree, etc). Problem is that Houston doesn't have much going on downtown at night other than the baseball equivalent that the Astros play that passes for professional ball. The closest major building is the Harris County courthouse.
As for being near Houston's "other attractions" - good luck. Houston is physically the largest major city in Texas. It has double the square mileage of New York City and is more than 8 times the size of Washington DC. Assuming your moniker has something to do with your hometown, Houston is nearly four times larger than Denver. Whatever Houston's other attractions may be, they're scattered. You will need to drive.
You won't see any baseball in Dallas unless it's at a sandlot, at SMU or on a TV. There is baseball in Frisco and in Arlington. The Rangers play in Arlington, one of their farm clubs that is slightly worse than the Astros plays in Frisco. There is nothing nearby The Ballpark In Arlington (its original name) other than post-game bars, Chili's type chains and Six Flags. There is aMarriott Wyndham Sheraton just down the hill from the stadium that is walking distance from it. But neither Dallas' Arts District, Fort Worth's Arts District, Dallas' Uptown, Fort Worth's Downtown nor any other attraction in DFW is within walking distance from the Ballpark other than Cowboys Stadium.

Here's a map showing hotels near Arlington Stadium.

The only REAL close one is the Sheraton. The others are walkable, but a bit further. If you stayed at any of the others, it is certainly not worth driving/parking, but be prepared for a somewhat lengthy walk.
