Chicago: 3 hour layover with kids!
My 2 daughters and I have a 3 hour layover in Chicago in O'Hare. I understand that there is not enough time to actually leave the airport and do anything that's worth doing. My kids are 5 and 10...Suggestions? Food is definitley a requirement. But making my kids eat for an hour and half hardly seems fair. What else could we do? I am a huge Bears fan, will there be lots of Bears gear in the airport?

There used to a museum for kids and a playground too. Check out ORD's website. Lots of families have layovers there so you will find something for kids.
As far as food, you can avoid eating at generic chain restaurants as several well known Chicago restaurants have a branch at ORD..Billy Goat Tavern, Berghof Cafe, Gold Coast Hot Dogs, O'Brien's, and also the famous Garrett's Popcorn and Eli's Cheescake are there. |
Have you looked at where your planes land and depart? 3 hours isn't a lot between flights - especially considering the percentage that arrive late.
I would think a snack and getting to your next gate might well take all of your time. |
Your 5 year old (and even the 10 year old) might like going through the neon light tunnel. At least it will kill a little time and burn off some energy before the next flight.
