Chic non "family" style restaurants, please?

Please give me some suggestions for new, upscale, chic restaurants...with good food , of course, for people without children. Sushi is a plus!!

Oh, I thought I entered the city before I posted the message! I guess I was wrong. The city is DC! Help!

Restart this post with DC in the subject line and you will get more responses.

Ok, thanks...I was not thinking!

The best sushi restaurants in DC are Kaz Sushi Bistro and Sushiko. I've not been to Kaz, but it is highly recommended by all. Sushiko is in my neighborhood and I go frequently. It's not fancy, but the food is fabulous. Very innovative. The hottest new restaurant is probably Zaytinya at 9th & G NW. Beautiful in a minimalist way. Lively (also noisy). Great food, Greek oriented tapas (but entrees as well). Check out the restaurant reviews at www.washingtonpost.com. Very comprehensive info there. DC has tons of great restaurants. Some of my other favorites: 1789, Ten Penh, DC Coast, Butterfield 9, Bis.

Agree with all of Glover's recommendations. Would also add Asia Nora and Zola. Asia Nora is not very new, but has great intimate decor and fabulous food. upstairs tables overlooking the downstairs restaurant is best seating. http://www.noras.com/ Zola is fairly new, very trendy, sleek 'spy theme' decor (it is next to International Spy Museum), the bar is very nice and the restaurant quiet, upscale, and serene and the food is really great. www.spymuseum.org/dine/zola

I would also recommend you go to chowhound.com to see what "foodies" are saying about these (and other) places. Also, Washingtonian Magazine publishes an annual Best Places to Eat article. It might be online or available through your library.

Bon appetit!
