cherry picking in southern ca
we live in santa clarita, ca..is there an orchard (nearest) that we could go cherry picking -- thanks!!

It seems that cherry picking season is just over. However, you could try calling a few orchards which are fairly close. One orchard has Asian apples the end of August.
www.pickyourown.org Scroll down, and you will find several orchards listed in Leona Valley. Bouquet Canyon Rd to Elizabeth Lake Road - or Hwy 14 to Lancaster, etc. Directions are on websites or mapquest. |
Sorry - I meant Asian pears the end of August.
Another day trip, is to take the Metrolink Downtown, and check out Union Station. Walk across the street to Olvera Street, and get back on the 1:50 train home. If you get turned around a little, just look for the clock tower at Union Station to make your way back. The transit center is interesting, read up on it - and take the escalator down and ride a couple stops on the Red Line, get off and return to Union Station. Just another thought for a day trip. |
thank you very much for the info!

I remember going cherrypicking with my family as a kid, and word of advice: don't eat too many on the spot! Typical of a kid, I ate a ton of cherries right when we got there, and of course, I got pretty sick. Have fun - just pace yourself....
