Lake Placid Olympic Sites
Having been to Lake Placid about a million times, and not really being interested in the Olympic stuff, we are now likely going to spend a day there next week with some friends who want to see some of those sites - and we are up for that.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what the highlights are? We probably won't actually DO anything (like take a bobsled ride) but what should we look at?
Sorry for this dumb question...
Thanks in advance.

We actually took the bobsled ride and it was pretty fun! Not sure what you should look at - I guess some folks go up to the top of the ski jumps for the view. I've also been there a million times but have never cared much about the Olympic sites. Mostly they are just sports facilities - speed skating track, ice arena, etc.

FWIW - I took the bobsled ride at Lake Placid and experienced horrible vertigo almost immediately after the ride. I still have bouts of it, 9 years later, that can last for months at a time. That first episode lasted 1 year.
Be careful... I was diagnosed with benign positional vertigo and it was a direct result of ride.

What about taking the gondola to the top of White Face? There are beautiful views! Also, if you're looking for a great meal, try Brown Dog restaurant. You can usually request a table that overlooks Mirror Lake.

Luckily, we did get to do things before the bobsled ride. My son was attending camp in the area, so we went there twice for parents weekend. The bobsled thing was the last event, on the second trip.
AuSable Chasm was interesting. http://www.ausablechasm.com/
Rent a pedal boat on Mirror Lake.
We liked watching the ski jumpers practice by jumping into a huge pool with their skis on.
The views from the top of the jump is pretty good.
Rent bikes and ride around Mirror Lake.
