Hello, If you mean the one my good buddy, Sam "Mayday" Malone owns, it's called the Bull and Finch and it's in Boston, Ma. Just a drunken stroll away from Boston Commons. <BR>Another round on my friend Cliffy...hic...

The bar (at least the entrance that Cheers showed)is in Boston, but I can't remember the name right now. I was on a trolley tour (a good one!) last October and they stopped outside it for awhile to let us do the touristy things. Interestingly, an employee stood at the bottom of the stairs at the door and took up $1.00 from each person who wanted to "just look inside". Who could blame them? About 30 minutes later, after I had visited the gift shop upstairs, I decided I really did want to see inside the bar and would pay my dollar, but the employee wasn't there, and I went on in and "looked around". It's very small (maybe 1/4 of the size it seems to be on TV)...not much to see. <BR>I'm sure a Bostonian has its address, but if no one gives it, I'll look among my souvenirs...

The address is 84 Beacon Street, across from the Boston Common about midway between Charles and Arlington Streets.

I'd recommend not even wasting your time. It's basically souvenir shop w/ a bar in the basement. I loved the show but Bull & Finch is just another place to buy over priced t-shirts. If you don't take my advice and go anyway. Definately don't wait in line, get there early.

Oh, Normmmm, of course, I believe you; you must have hit the SEND key a second before I did to be posted before me. Anyway, as has been mentioned, it's really no big deal, but to a Cheers fanatic, it's sort of special... <BR>(I bought a pack of cardboard Cheers coasters for $5.00 - cheapest thing in the store, I think).

Gee, Woody, Andre was looking for an address and Donna provided it to him. What's your problem? If you're missing Dr. Crane, he can be found in Seattle on Thursday nights at 9PM. The exterior of the Bull & Finch was used for "Cheers" in filming the TV show. It's THE most visited sight in Boston, well ahead of The Freedom Trail, which is number two. When I visited Nantucket, I was thrilled to run into a local who told me where to find all the sights used in the show "Wings". And, I've been to all the sights used in "Ally McBeal" and "The Practice". Wouldn't have missed any of these for the world...When the characters, settings, panoramic views, of a beloved TV show have brought much pleasure to one's life, there's a huge thrill in standing right there. Now, when I see the shots of that gorgeous Courthouse, I recall having stood right in front of it. And, Woody: if you watched the show, you know that Mr. Peterson and Mr. Klaven were inveterate liars and fooled You (Woody) every chance they got, just for laughs.

Cheers used to be a great local bar, much as portrayed on the show. IT has been a tourist trap for many years now, though - a victim of its popularity.

The Cheers bar used to be next door to Katharine Gibbs School dormitory when I was there in the Mid 60's. At that time it was known as The Hampshire Hotel. At any rate my dorm was at 86 Beacon Street across from entrance to Boston Garden (with swan boats).

Aha! I know you are a Katie Gibbs girl because you spell Katharine with an a. But I must tell you that the swan boats are in the Public Garden, not Boston Garden home of the Bruins and Celtics. I too was at KGS in the 60s...

Please do not waste your time going. Everytime someone was in the office from out of town, we had to schlep to Cheers. Once there, they were so disappointed that we were out within 15 minutes, but I could not convince anyone that they did not want to go. The only part that resembles anything from the old Cheers show is the entrance from the sidewalk. Have a cabbie slow down on your way by. That is it. Sam, Carla, Coach and Diane would never work here. And please, if you decide you cannot stand it and go in, don't eat. Get a beer and be on your way. Tourist Trap!!!!!! Go to Fenway Park, Top of the Prudential, Fanuiel Hall Marketplace, North End, etc. I notice you have Canadian email address. Where are you from?
