Yosemite - Tioga Road in July 2018 (Need Advice)

Hi, we will be going to Yosemite in the last week of July 2018 and will be staying at YVL (for 4 days). We plan to visit Tioga Road / Tuolumne Meadow but are not sure whether we should go in our car or take the shuttle .... If we go by shuttle, I presume we will miss stopping at the lookouts, etc. Whereas, if we go by car, it will mean finding parking, etc. Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There isn't a shuttle up from from the Valley. The Tuolumne Shuttle does round trip through the back country and does not serve the Valley. Are you maybe asking about the Hiker bus? That is a one time a day bus that leaves YVL early in the AM and returns around 4PM. So you'd end up at one of the stops on the Hiker bus (Olmsted Point, Tuolumne Meadows, etc) and then using the shuttle, and catching the Hike Bus back in the afternoon.

Just take your car.

You could always park somewhere like the TM visitors center and take the shuttle around - but you'd be on your own schedule.
