check out times - nyc mid-town
Just booked the Roger Williams in NYC for this weekend ($157.00), but would change if I can find another mid-town hotel under $200 that will let us check out late - 4:00 would be ideal. I've been searching, but no luck yet. Anyone know of a decent & reasonable place near Grand Central with flexible check out, or one that will stash your bags and let you pick them up later? Thanks!

Katie, all of them will let you check out and then hold your bags for you. I don't think any will have a checkout after noon -- although if they aren't full that night, they might let you have a "late checkout", usually 1:00.

Thank you. The desk holding the bags works fine. I emailed the hotel to be sure, though.

Agreed. I've never heard of a hotel that won't store your bags for you for the afternoon until your departure.

The "desk" doesn't hold the bags for you. Hotels have luggage storage rooms and either there's a set price to use it or you tip the bellman who deals with it for you.
Agree, hotels won;t give you a late check out unless they're next to empty - they can;t afford to - have to have the rooms cleaned by staff for new guests. |
As mentioned, any hotel will hold your bags for late departure. If not, for futures, there's bag storage from schwartztravel.com with a location right near Grand Central.
Hotwire has a 4* hotel in midtown east for $116/night that's either the Grand Hyatt (on top of Grand Central) or the Barclay Intercontinental. A studio suite at the Shelburne Murray Hill is $170-187 on quikbook.com depending on whether you want a kitchen (deluxe) or not. The Millenium UN Plaza is $157-180/night (rooftop pool and views) also on quikbook. A great deal is 70 Park in the marketplace area of quikbook for $148.75/night plus tax for a room with queen bed. Those are all in midtown east. If you want midtown west closer to theaters, Millenium Broadway, the Belvedere, the Mansfield and others are ~$200/night plus tax or less. |
