Cheapest Transportation from JFK to Laguardia?

I booked a hotel through Priceline. We ended up in the Crowne Plaza Laguardia. The problem is we are arriving at JFK. Crowne Plaza has a shuttle but it only services Laguardia. So we need to find our own transportation. We got one quote for a Lincoln Town Car and driver, but it's $74 each way. (We are staying just one night.)

I would be cheaper to just eat the cost of the Crowne Plaza and book the Ramada at JFK for $75 for the night. However, I HATE the thought of just throwing away a paid for hotel room.

Does anyone know if there is a bus that goes from JFK to East Elmhurst, which I believe is near Queens? Or would a taxi be cheaper. I think the route is about 10-11 miles each way.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Bob

New York Airport Service has a bus that does the transfer directly for $13 one-way. I believe you have to pay in cash; there's usually a dispatcher-type person outside near the stop to sell tickets. Otherwise buy from the bus driver. Then you can take the free Crowne Plaza shuttle. Count on 90 minutes for the entire trip from JFK to your hotel, depending on traffic. The bus runs about every 30 minutes.

If you are willing to pay about $60, you could simply take a taxi directly to your hotel and would be there in half the time.

Just wondering, are you taking an early flight the next morning? Why are you staying near an airport?

There are two city buses that goes direct to the Crowne Plaza - Q23 and Q48.

From JFK, you can take the AirTrain to Jamaica, then switch to the "E" train for 5 stops to Forrest Hill/71 Av. You can pick up the Q23 there to your hotel.
