Cheap Vegas Show
 

I'm going to Vegas in april with some girlfriends for a 50th B-Day party. We would like to see a show that won't cost $100 each. Do any of you have a favorite?

Do you like celebrity impersonators? Comedy? Girlie revues? There are SO many to choose from!

Quite frankly, there is not much in 'Vegas that is cheap these days. You need to define what type of show you are interested in tho.

Mac King at Harrah's is great, and check what's going on at The Tropicana.

The last time we were in Las Vegas we attended a "concert" by a favorite comedian who was appearing for two nights only; tickets were under $50. You may find an appealing singer, comic, or other performer is doing a show during your stay.

In reality most of them are cheap, some just charge a lot!

Stratosphere used to have an afternoon show that was cheap. And it was in more ways than one, LOL! I think my mom and I went on a "two-for-one" foe $11.- and that included a free drink for each of us. It was tacky, but we had fun anyway. I think that was in 99 or 2000. :-)

Oh in the under $100.- range, I would pick Lance Burton, if you have any magic show interest.
I think my Stratospere afternoon show is too cheap, LOL.

I checked the cheapovegas website. The Strat still has the cheap afternoon show, Viva Las Vegas. And it's still cheap!

We recently saw three comedians at the Comedy Stop and I think the tickets were $20 something dollars with a drink included. We enjoyed the show.

How about the cheap seats at Mamma Mia?

You have lot of options - here in order of preference are my suggestions:

a) Go to goldstarevents.com and register using area code 89109 (Las Vegas). You can purchase tickets to some very good shows for approximately 1/2 price plus a handling fee. You receive an online printable voucher that you bring to the box office and then are assigned seats. We have used them twice without a problem and each time got great seats. The two best shows now offered are Mama Mia (a broadway show based on the music of ABBA) and Hairspray (a recent broadways show featuring two of the original stars through the end of April).

b) Mystere @ TI (Treasure Island) is the original and many regard as the best Cirque du Soleil show. Seats may be ordered online and cost $60/$75/$95. This a show where you do not need orchestra seating. I suggest arriving early because there is preshow interaction between the actors and audience members.

c)Go to Harrah's Carnaval Court (outside) in the mid to late afternoon when they will be handing out coupons. You should receive, if not ask, a 2/1 coupon for the Clint Holmes show @ Harrahs. We have seen Clint 5 times and the show is always great and never the same. He is a singer/entertainer without peer (trust me Wayne Newton is no competition).

d) At Harrahs Carnaval court you should also receive free for the price of a drink tickets to Ron Lucas (ventriloquist) and Mac King (comedy magician). Both shows are super and should not be missed.

e) Do you like Sinatra and Streisand?

g) I haven't seen this one and it should probably be listed first since it sounds perfect for your group - Menopause the Musical @ the LV Hilton. Prices are $49.50. Here is the url for a write-up:

h) Monday-Thursday Big Elvis @ the Barbary Coast from 3-6 PM. Arrive early for a seat, close your eyes (he is really big) and you will think Elvis is in the house.

i) There are 2 discount brokers operating out of several locations same day 1/2 priced tickets to a number of shows. Shows vary by location and date, but you should be able to find something of interest.

An addendum to my post:

Ron Lucas and Mac King are afternoon shows. Ron performs at the Rio (shuttle available from Harrahs) and Mack performs at Harrahs.

Big Elvis is a free lounge act.

Strasophere also has a cheap evening show package for show, elevator trip to the observation deck and buffet. Strasophere is a little downscale but we enjoyed the show. Clean celebrity impersonations, nice music. This is a great deal and I would do it again

Another great show for your group would be Rita Rudner @ NYNY. Tickets are $63.50 and I don't think there are any 1/2 priced tickets or other discounts available. Showtimes:
Monday - Thursday: 8 pm
Friday: 9pm
Saturday: 8 pm
