Alya: Hi!! You are too funny. The hair is fine, thank you very much.
It's actually the same job. The division I work for is in NJ and we're just being moved to our headquarters.
Yep, Patrick is in school now, so we're now tied to school holidays for our trips. Bummer.
NeoPatrick: I get what you're saying. I also didn't think that garage would be an issue. My husband did work in the area for years. My sister-in-law, who works in that area as well, expressed the same reservation. Both are born and bred New Yorkers and definitely not alarmists. I value their opinion.
It's the Zenith garage on 8th Avenue, between 48th and 49th streets.

I wanted to let everyone know that I just found a good spot, GMC Sun Garage (between 6th & 7th Avenues) for $355/month (including taxes). And both my husband and sister-in-law agree it's a good location. Thanks again everyone.

$491 a month - assuming 22 working days - is only about $22 per day - VERY inexpensive for that area. There's no way a car service will drive you in from Jersey for $22 a day - never mind how much public transit would cost.
I think your best bet is to try to find someone in your office who either lives near you - or who would travel close to your home - and try to split the cost with them. This would make your commute only about $11 a day - quite reasonable for anyone coming in from the suburbs.

If your company is set up to do the pre-tax thing, you should be able to use it regardless of where you park (by the way, there's an option for public transportation users as well). My husband works for a large bank and everyone parks different places, but they're all set up to have their parking bills paid directly. At my small firm, I paid my own parking bills and then submitted them with appropriate documentation and got reimbursed.

Yes, I can do pre-tax. My company will pay them $215 directly out of my pre-tax pay ($215 is the cap). I'm responsible for the remaining $140 with my "post-tax" pay. Out of the $140, the company will also allow me to expense $7/day. Not too bad after all.
