Cheap Hotels in Las Vegas??
We are are taking a high school voleyball group to Las Vegas in February, and are having a terrible time finding a cheap, but clean and convenient hotel. Near the Convention Center and the Strip. We heard Circus Circus was cheap ($34!) but filthy beds and rooms! Help! Thanks.

What weekend are you looking at? Do you need something WALKING distance to the convention center?
|
We need 2/18 through 2/21. No it does not even really need to be that near, as we have several playing sites depending on the pool we are in. Just safe, clean and cheap!

I have an assumption that you will have cars for going to these different venues?
Check out the Orleans. Reasonable, nice, clean and the bowling center will offer some entertainment for teens. If you really want to be on the strip consider Ballys or the Flamingo. You can get to the convention center from these on the monorail assuming it is operating. |
I agree with Orleans. We're staying there next week. Week day rates are about $49/$59 with weekend being a little bit more. It's a nice hotel, clean, nice rooms, but not on the strip. We always rent a car to get around. But there is a shuttle from Orleans to the strip. If you look at postings on this subject, I think some say there is a bit of a wait for that shuttle to arrive, and sometimes a long line??

Try the Westward Ho. It a Motel 6 like structure on the Strip between the Stardust and Circus Circus. The rooms are not attached to the casino and were clean. The offer free lunch in the cafe. We stayed there on our first trip to Las Vegas and wouldn't hesitate staying again.

That's a holiday weekend so you won't find anything even close to the $34 or $49 rates mentioned.
How many people do you need to accomodate, and how many per room? I ask because most places are now charging per-person extra fees even for kids under 18 now. Especially the casino hotels, because they want adults who are gambling staying in their hotels, not kids/teenagers. Also, strip hotels may require that at least one adult over 21 is signed in to each room so you would be allowed, say, four 17 year old boys in one room together. |
We had been reviewing different site for Vegas info and came across this one. Very amusing and helpful...

The old Super 8 motel out on Boulder Highway is about the only bargain left near Vegas for that weekend. Rooms are $65 a night and have two queen beds with room for a sleeping bag too. It's about a 15 minute drive up to the convention center but it is an easy drive, straight up Flamingo Road then right onto Paradise Road.
It is near Sam's Town hotel which has a good coffee shop, a decent buffet and a bowling alley. It is also near several fast food joints and a Walgreens for supplies. You might also check on budgetsuites.com, as they have several locations in Las Vegas including one near the Convention center. They usually rent weekly but sometimes have openings. |
For the kids sake, I would definately stick with Circus Circus. It is ideally located for your needs and offers the most "kid Friendly" amenities for the price. The teens will not care about the old property issues at CC.

Just got back from Vegas on Saturday 1/21. Spent 5 days at the Orleans and had a great time. The shuttle is VERY convenient--would stay there again!

Try San Remo!
It is beside Tropicana and right near Excalibur,MGM and New York,New York.Their rates are usually around $50 a night on their site as they guarantee their rates. We enjoy the stay there as the rooms are clean and they have a pool and the location is great. |
