Cheap flights SEA-ANC??

Does anybody know what airlines go direct from Seattle to Anchorage at the cheapest rates? It seems as though all I can find is Alaska Air and Continental and a one way flight is anywhere from $200 - $330pp for May 22. I thought this would be a pretty common flight so rates would be lower. Any thoughts, does it go lower or just book it? I'm working on NY to SEA with a five day layover and then SEA to ANC and then back to NY. It's cheaper to fly NY-SEA/ANC-NY roundtrip than just SEA-ANC!!! Go figure!! Thanks

Common yes but common doesn't usually = cheaper airfare. Since May is before the full summer travel season, it seems only Alaska Air and Continental make daily the trips to Anchorage. Hence, the supply is low and there is enough demand to keep the rates elevated. Try booking a multiple stop ticket allowing for the days in Seattle.

I don't know about anywhere else, but one-way fares to Alaska and back are disproportionally expensive when compared to round-trip, no matter when you go. I did find a one-way on Continental on 5/25 for $184 through kayak.com (compared to the cheapest fare of $564 for NYC-SEA-ANC-NYC). Sorry!

No matter where you are going, one way flights are always ridiculous. I was looking at one way fares between Boston and Portland, Maine recently and they were $400-500. You might ask about this in the airline forum-maybe people can suggest tactics. Have you called the airline and asked about multi stop flights with a layover?

Thanks everyone, I found a flight on Continental for $164 so I jumped on it. Not the exact time I wanted, but hey you must make compromises when you travel!!

Is that one-way or roundtrip?? Even one-way, that's a great fare! I've always wanted to go to Alaska...have a great trip!
