Cheap blackjack??
I'm wanting to stay at a hotel in Vegas with $3-$5 bet minimums. I've heard that the Orleans has cheap blackjack, but I'd like to get 3 or 4 options before narrowing down to one.
Thanks |
I HATE this topic in Vegas!! I'm like you and I'm always looking for tables like that. Why do all the big "popular" hotels/casinos feel compelled to raise the minimums to $10 or $15 or even $20 on certain nights, on the weekends, when it's busy, or whenever they feel like it??
A lot depends on what day of the week it is, what time of the day, and how busy it is. Usually they're hard to find on the weekends. But for the most part, you can forget about finding those kind of tables at places like the Bellagio, Paris, Wynn, Venetian, etc. All they care about is the money and the lowest you'll probably find is a $15 table. You MIGHT MIGHT find one $5 table, but you can forget about finding an empty seat there! I've found that Excalibur will have quite a few $5 tables, but it can vary. The best place to find $3-$5 tables on a REGULAR basis is Downtown. I think Sahara and Stratosphere might too. |
I am another low roller so I always stay downtown. You will be hard-pressed to find low limits like these on the strip, especially on weekends. The hotels downtown are much closer together than the strip, so you could gamble at most any hotel and walk a short distance home when you're ready for bed.

If you have a car and don't mind staying away from the strip/downtown, but still want luxurious accommodation, I highly recommend the J W Marriott in Summerlin. Great low-stakes "locals" casino attached to a fabulous hotel, spa, around 20-25 minutes from the strip, downtown, or airport. The nearby Sun Country complex (hotel, casino, multiplex cinema etc) is also great for low-stakes punters.

Try the Barbary Coast.

Forgot to mention....most of the not-so-popular casinos will probably have it, like the Frontier (I know they do!), Stardust, Westward Ho, Flamingo, Tropicana, Boardwalk, etc. Or some of the casinos off the Strip will probably have it too, like the Orleans, Palace Station, Terribles, etc.

The Imperial Palace is right on the strip and has low limit roulette and blackjack. I stayed at the Venetian last year. Got a great deal on the room but couldn't afford to anything but sleep there. My wife and I would head over to the Imperial Palace to play the games. There are a few street side casinos that take low $ bets as well.

The tables are higher because the casinos make more money , also the dealers WORK for TIPS and $lower limit table players do not tip. Learn to play properly, tip your dealer and the limits won't bother you

Thanks for all the responses so far, especially dreamsicle56 who is obviously a disgruntled Las Vegas dealer.

$5minimums at Hard Rock and Palms during the day...minimums rise starting late afternoon.

Casino Royale on the strip, right across from Mirage. Nearly anywhere downtown!

The Boardwalk (between Bellagio and the Monte Carlo)
O'Sheas, (next to the Flamingo) and Barbary Coast. and, of course, downtown. |
Just back from vegas and even the Flamingo and Harrah's tables were $10- $15 during the day now. :(
