Chatham or Provincetown on the Cape?

Hi, again,
Now I am debating whether to stay in Chatham or Provincetown for the day and night.
Has P-town become too much of a scene. We will be there in mid-Sewptember.
Any thoughts?
Thx.
Evelyn

Ptown has always been a scene. No more and no less then 20 or 30 years ago, especially off season. I love them both. And neither will be effected by a seasonal shutdown as early as september. If you want to spend time on the dunes and national seashore the ptown. If you want to visit quaint cape towns the Chatham. Both have much to offer.

Midseptember is no longer really off season in PTown.
I think PTown is very different than 20 or 30 years ago. Much more crowded, much more cutesy, much gayer. Still really wonderful and to my mind more interesting than CHatham. Personally, I'd spend the Chatham time in Wellfleet.

Wellfleet? By September all the psychiatrists have gone back to NY -- what's left? {-)

Another Wellfleet fan! Great beaches and a lovely town. I also agree with jublilada about PTown even though my experiences only go back a little over a decade.
