Chatham, MA - Help
Which Inn would any of you recommend in Chatham - The Bradford or the Wayside - they both look lovely on their sites? Any recent experiences would be welcomed enormously. Coming from the west coast of Canada for 6 days at Cape Cod and to attend son's grad in Cambridge day 8 & 9. Want this to be a special visit as my husband turns 50 mid-trip. Also love to hear about a special place on either Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket for the big event. Please be kind re price as our dollar is very low these days. Thanks

Sorry, I don't know much about Chatham. But I do know about those Cambridge graduation events, and that hotels book solid far in advance, so book your room for that part of the trip ASAP!

The waydside is great/ location and atmosphere is perfect and the eggs benedict too! Try to stay in the main inn on the street and not in the back building.

Hi,
I'm familiar with the Bradford, and it is a lovely place in a quiet corner of "downtown." They also have wonderful breakfasts. Lots of beautiful spring bulbs blooming in May! Swimming pool on-site if later. I'm wondering if the two inns have the same owners. ??? Is it a May graduation? Chatham will probably be pretty cool (breezy). Restaurants in Nantucket that might appeal to you are the Boarding House, Cioppinos, and Company of the Cauldron. You should make your Cambridge res. asap, too! Happy Celebrations! |
The graduation is probably MIT (June 4) or Harvard (June 10). Harvard is extra-late this year, usually the two schools both hold commencement during the first week of June, so this year the crowds won't be quite as bad as usual.

Hello,
My daughter stayed at the Wayside Inn in Chatham and loved it! Also, We had lunch there in August. It is very pretty, and very convenient. The location is excellent; it is on Main Street. There are lots of shops and restaaurants. When my daughter stayed there, she ate at the restaurant right across the street and liked it very much. I don't remember the name. |
Thanks everyone. Yes it's June 10th for Harvard MBA grads, and yes we have had our reservations for Cambridge for almost three months as we were warned about the crowds. It does seem that both Inns are owned by the same person, as each is featured one the same website. Sounds like we can't go wrong with either. Still love to hear from someone re a special spot on either island. Many thanks for your advice and those restaurant suggestions.
