My brother has lived in Charlotte for around 20 years and hasn't had a problem with it.
I'm sure a new neighbor will invite you to their church (just being neighborly), go if you want, or reply with a no thank you. I wouldn't worry about it. A good number of people are like you. |
I agree. Charlotte is very diverse. Like the previous poster said, people may invite you to church but it is seen as more of a neighborly gesture. The typical southern religious stereotype does exist, but you will find an amazing amount of people from upstate NY, Ohio, Pennsylvania etc. It see(I was raised in NJ, my fiance in NY!) I really wouldn't let that be a factor in your decision to move.

I would strongly suggest you take the time to look around the different areas before you decide which area/county to choose. I live in Huntersville, went to college in Davidson, born and raised in Charlotte, so I know a fair bit about the area. If it were me, I would definitely choose the Mooresville area, because the South Iredell and Mooresville City schools (separate systems) are both excellent. The Mecklenburg County school system is completely overloaded, and in a bit of disarray at the moment. Iredell County property taxes are much lower as well.
