Just some feedback on Mama Ricotta's...this was just a fair experience. Plentiful food, efficient service, lousy bread (always important to me), food was just so-so and kind of pricey. We much preferred lunch at Harper's the day before.

Funny you should mention Harpers. We went there for lunch during our stay this past weekend. We enjoyed it as well.

You're kidding about the bread? Actually I think the owner's sister did close Metropolitan Bakery so it may be different, but when we have eaten there the bread has been so good that I was going to warn you about filling up on it. Harper's and their other restos (Mimosa Grill uptown and another I can't call) are SO consistently good. Excellent management.

Gretchen - no, not kidding about the bread. It was entirely underwhelming - brown and serve cut apart type rolls - yuck. why waste the olive oil.

Ahhh, bread. The one element of a meal that can make or break it for me. Give me four-star cuisine if you want, but if you screw up the bread you've lost me for life. I can't stand it when restaurants place little to no emphasis upon doing something special or different with their bread.

I have to admit I really like those soft, doughy rolls at Mama Ricottas. They're not highbrow, and a fresh baked cibatta would match the food better, but I do find them a guilty pleasure.

Yep, I am right there with you Brian. I LOVE them!! Not a waste of OO either.

Red Rocks Cafe is awesome....it's at the corner of Providence and Fairview/Sardis behind the Fresh Market.
