Charlotte, NC, hotel, inn, b&b suggetstion?

Hi, I'll be traveling to Charlotte for the first time this May (w/husband, toddler). Staying just one night. Any ideas for a nice hotel, inn or b&b? $$ range. Thanks!

I would suggest staying Uptown. The Dunhill would be my first choice (they also have a fine restaurant) & you would be right next door to the Mint Museum & Discovery Place. Next would be the Westin or Omni. As long as you don't hit a race weekend, deals should be available.

Are you the one that is relocating here ? (in Clt) I guess I'm wondering what you will be doing &/or what other info you may need.

Yes, that's me. We'll be relocating sometime after July this year. At that point, it's a matter of how soon I find a job in/near Charlotte. Thanks for asking!

The Omni is nice (relatives stayed there this June), and located where you could walk to different places. It is close to Discovery place (a museum which your toddler may like).

If you are in North Charlotte, I would recommend the Hilton at University Place. I haven't been inside, but it looks nice from the outside. It is in a shopping center with a lake, and lots of shops/restaurants nearby. There is also a new playground right outside, and you can rent paddleboats on the little lake or walk around it. It is very close to I-85,also.

The race weekends are the 21st and the 29th. If you are going to be in Charlotte during this time I would avoid the Hilton at University and stay downtown (oops, that's uptown to the uptight Charlotteans ). Any other time though I think the Hilton at University would be a good choice. You won't have to pay extra to park there, either. I think your toddler would enjoy the area better than downtown.
