Charlotte NC airport hotel help

I am flying out of CLT on Thursday. The weather reports show snow and ice in my area so I decided to overnight near the airport. Could you suggest a hotel with a shuttle service?

Thank you.

Why thank you, exactly what I needed!

That's a good list. Don't go below 3* and maybe 4!! I think our weather is clear. Do you know there is a "snow line" about 15 miles north of Charlotte--it can be clear as a bell here, and snowing like a bandit above it!!

I am about 100 miles north and the reports are saying 70% chance of snow Thursday am here. It is fourteen degrees here today. this is completely insane. I will check the forecast again in the am before making my final decision.
Thanks for the help.

cmc - I am in Matthews & it was 16 here this morning & we did have a little dusting of snow on Sunday, I believe. What time is your flight ?

starrs Dec 14th, 2010 11:07 AM

There's a HOtwire room that is 4* with everything you could want for $99, including shuttle. I'm guessing it's the Sheraton, but that's only a guess.

I got a Hyatt for a little less than the $99 and free parking while I am away, so that works out just fine for me.

SA, it is mid morning, but I would be driving from Pinnacle pretty early and I don't do snow or ice well.

I would agree, if nothing else due to traffic concerns, to be in CLT in plenty of time. Have a safe trip.

Thank you.

Safe travels :-)

thanks for your help. I hate flying north in winter...but sometimes you just have to go!

Yes, we are even supposed to have a little sleet tomorrow night.

Just a quick followup. I stayed at the Hyatt Place on Tyvola (coincidentally very near the excellent South Park Mall!). I highly recommend it for air travelers. They serve a standard continental breakfast, offer free parking ,free shuttle to the airport, large rooms with fridge and microwave, free wireless, a bar/restaurant with basic choices. The service staff is very friendly and professional. All in all a pretty good deal since I saved over $50 on parking!

That's a great deal!

Sounds like a great deal - thanks for reporting back.

For future travelers, I'd caution that some may not consider this hotel "very near" Southpark. It's about 7 miles, though a straight shot down Tyvola. Just wouldn't want someone to think this the best option if the main goal is to visit Southpark.

good point, Brian. My main objective was a hotel with shuttle and parking priviledges. The short drive to Southpark was an added bene.
